Cincinnati Reds NL (1902–1903)
William “Buck” Hooker pitched just 10.1 innings for the Cincinnati Reds in 1902 and 1903. He finished his major league career 0–1 with a 3.48 ERA in two appearances and one start, and failed to strike anyone out. He was 0–4 as a hitter, too. Hooker played 13 years in the minor leagues, pitching in five of them, collecting a 22–14 record for five different teams. He spent most of his time in the Virginia League with the Lynchburg Shoemakers, as pictured on his T206 card. Hooker pitched exclusively until 1906, at which point he became an outfielder, pitching only in single appearances after that in 1906 and 1908. He also managed the Vicksburg Hill Billies in the Cotton States League in 1906, the Newport News Shipbuilders in the Virginia League in 1912, and the Clifton Forge Railroaders in the Virginia Mountain League in 1914. He retired after the 1915 season at the age of 34 as a .255 career hitter in the minors.
